Kashmir is well known for all its reds and greens. You look around and find apples peeking from inside the green of the apple orchards and the Chinar leaves turning red as monsoon season gives way to autumn. The red poppy grows around and cascades on the road, a bowed bougainvillea tree with its branches full of peach petals, bowing to everyone and offering season’s greetings. This is what is called ‘Heaven on Earth the beautiful ‘KASHMIR’!!

Kashmir Ki Kali!!

Perched at 18,875 feet above the sea level, Kashmir has a rugged topography and is home to the longest Himalayan glacier. Kashmir, also known as Heaven on Earth boasts of beautiful scenic beauty and glimpses to remember for a lifetime.

It is said that one who has visited Kashmir, has so much to keep in their archives and can revisit the place in their memories again and again on a rainy and misty day, sitting by the window, with a cup of warm tea in hand.

That one moment, when you sit down on the steps of Vaishno Devi Temple and looked up to behold the Milky Way encompassing the expanse of the night sky, it looks as if the God has decorated the sky with tiny fairy lights. Or a night in the heart of Dal Lake, in a houseboat, with a sumptuous dinner by the small ‘Kangri’ and a peaceful sleep on the bed by the window that overlooks the mountains and the moonlight dancing on the waters of the lake.

Such is a beauty of Kashmir! Kashmir has a lot of reds to behold! Like the red apples in the orchards of Gulmarg or the reddening leaves of the Chinar tree that cover the roads and can often be found after the onset of winter hiding inside the cold, freezing snow, still ablaze with their bright fiery color! Kashmir is also home to a variety of animal species that inhabit the rugged terrain. The infamous saffron, that grows here gives rise to the delicious pink tea!

Kashmir, also boasts of great sense in fashion – the beautiful Aari work Kashmiri embroidery!

We at Pink Paparazzi promise to bring you Kashmir in a never before seen version, in colours and combinations, that are rare and unique just like the place. After all, we all have a part of our hearts, that we have  kept saved up or left behind in Kashmir!

Three must have heirloom sarees for a wedding Trousseau!!

Thing passed down from generation to generation have some sort of magic laced on them as if there are hidden messages and secrets in them that the future generations are yet to decipher. An old belonging that was owned by someone you probably would have never have met and nor will but can still feel their touch and fragrance through these small things that have been a witness for so long!

Yes, we are talking about family heirlooms. They are like small time machines, that  on physical contact, can teleport you to a time, when that entity was young and was a beloved possession of someone from the family tree. In India, there is a tradition among women to pass down richly weaved sarees down the family line. It is like passing down the family crest and keeping the culture intact.

Sarees like Jamavar, Tanchoi and Baluchari are some of the most common but expensive heirlooms to be found!

Jamavar silk Saree

What is Jamavar? Jamavar is a luxurious transformation of a silk saree with distribution of complex design on the silk or Pashmina. The patterns that play peek-a-boo in a Jamavar saree are usually made of valuable fibre and are quiet heavy and of immense worth! “Jama” means robe and “war/var” means chest or metaphorically body. These sarees are best made out of Kashmir’s Pashmina silk and the hide and seek designs are made of brocaded threads. Made of rich and shiny silk, these are vintage sarees and are a prized possession!

Baluchari Silk Saree

What is Baluchari? The most unique and traditional sarees are the Baluchari silk ones! These sarees originated in Bengal and Bangladesh and depict various mythological scenes all over their border and pallu. The field of the saree is generally spread with small floral designs. Balucharis can be broadly categorized based on threads used in weaving the patterns:

  • Baluchari (Resham)
  • Baluchari (Meenakari)
  • Swarnachari (Baluchari in gold)

They are weaved with rich gold thread and meenakari work and are a class apart! No doubt ….the best family heirloom saree that one can ever possess!

Tanchoi Silk Saree

What is Tanchoi Silk? Tanchoi is a complex and elaborate weaving technique as it involves two or more different coloured silk threads on a single silk fabric. Originally Tanchoi art was brought to India by ‘Choi’ brothers from China. Therefore this technique came to be known as Tanchoi. The weavers from Benaras started incorporating Zari work into Tanchoi sarees. The Benaras Tanchoi have several different variety:

  • Satin Tanchoi
  • Satin zari Tanchoi
  • Mushabbar
  • Atlas or Gilt

No wonder, they are passed down the family tree!

Women should invest their money on such luscious sarees because just like diamonds, these sarees are forever. They are absolutely worth investing money on. Such invaluable sarees can be handed over from generation to generation and can travel through the test of time. It is known that a woman’s heart is an ocean of secrets. Women often associate their thoughts and dreams with certain things, which they believe can keep them safe and untouched.

Such a thing of great value are often handed over by them to another woman, whom they trust the most, in the hope that their unfulfilled dreams might be fulfilled by the upcoming generation. Its like trusting that one person with your untold dreams. That’s the value of a family heirloom. It’s not just a thing of monetary worth, but also a huge mix of emotions and sentiments and hence, owning one, to hand over in the future, is definitely worth it.

Maybe it will hurt or maybe it will create a burning sensation, the reflex from the eyes that makes them watery and ruins the entire masterpiece. We all have been there once. However, once you have mastered the art of making your eyes attractive, there is no stopping you. You go through various tutorials and varieties of eyeliners.

Being a pro at the winged eyeliner thingy, is a life goal nowadays, both among the new and the old. Getting that wing right on both sides finally, is like a dream come true. Kohl is not just a thing from the recent times, it dates back to centuries and one can see olden day queens using it to darken their eyes. Previously, it was known as Surma. Was made from a diya flame, by holding a ghee covered leaf over it. The soot collected on the leaf and it was made into a paste and stored in containers.

What are you waiting for!! Designer sarees online lowest price @ Pink Paparazzi

Nowadays, kohl is readily available in both liquid as well as pencils. Also, comes as smudge proof and water proof. Some even claim to have moisturising properties, that protect the eyes from UV rays. There is a huge bunch of brands to choose from. Remember that time, when you used to sneak in mom’s old kajal pencil which she no longer used into your bag and using your pencil sharpener to sharpen and use it, only to get into trouble when the teachers noticed. Though, that was dreaded back then, it sure was fun!

Our dew drops of pearls designer blouse has a fuzzy look that will keep you warm this winter and also, has a majestic sweetheart neckline! It is a complete, highly exclusive designer blouse that has pearls embroidered all over it!

Kohl is also considered as a protection against all evils. Mothers draw a huge circular bindi on their new born’s forehead to keep away the evil. Grown ups put on a small black tika on their chin or on the side of their head, to keep away bad vibes that might affect and harm one. Being black, it is considered as a protection against all evils.

Surf nowhere else!! Designer saree blouses online shopping @ Pink Paparazzi

It is also an important part of worshipping God’s and Goddeses, homemade Kohl is used to line the eyes of the idol, while the sound of the coonch shell and bell follows with it. A leaf twig is used to pick up the Kohl and carefully use it to outline the eyes. A ritual that has come down, from generation to generation.

Women have passed down this beautiful creation from generation to generation, it is such a beautiful accessory, that it can surpass any other jewelry. Kohl draws in attention to the eyes and also, reduces the hairline for those with wider foreheads. Its the best jewelry a woman can sport and nothing compares to the jet black color that gives an in depth view into the eyes. Making them look bigger, sparkly and thoughtful.

We at Pink Paparazzi firmly believe in “Elegance is the only beauty that never fades“.

Winters are here !!

Exclusive designer sarees online @Pink Paparazzi

November is already here, and we can all feel the chill in the wind already. As much as we look forward to winter, it also comes with its fair share of skin problems. Dry skin being the common one for all of us. That weird stretchy and grainy feeling on your skin is something which we all want to avoid. We all wonder, how those pretty heroines in movies manage to look so stunning even when they are twirling or running about in freezing cold places. Well, here are a few skincare tips and also some fashion tips that might help you achieve great smooth skin and make you a stunner this winter!

Tip 1: Water

Keeping your skin and body hydrated in definitely something which you need to do always. Winter though cold, is a dry season and keeping yourself hydrated enough from inside, will help your skin from becoming too dry and will prevent the chalky grainy texture. Green tea also works wonder for your skin and hydrates it as well! Drinking plenty of plain water too will make your skin supple and smooth.

Tip 2: Dark Chocolate

This option is definitely not for those who are very conscious about their calorie intake. However, dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants that help in making your skin radiant and prevents untimely age marks. It also contains flavonoids that help protect the skin from UV rays, thus acting as a natural sunscreen, especially for those with low melanin levels.

Tip 3: Sunscreen

Sunscreens with a minimum of SPF 60 are required for winters. Just because the weather is cool, doesn’t mean that the sun’s UV rays are cool too. They cause equal damage to your skin as they would on a sultry, summer day. So, keeping a sunscreen in your bag and wearing one is a must.

Buy readymade saree blouse online @ Pink Paparazzi

Tip 4: Moisturizer

This is an essential throughout winter. Its extremely important that you apply a moisturizer to your skin right after using a face wash. Face washes contain soap that leave your skin dry and chapped, so using a moisturizer is very necessary. Using a moisturizing body lotion after taking a bath and before going to bed are also one of the many things that need to be included in the winter skincare regime.

Tip 5: Lip Balm

Our lips are made from very delicate skin cells and need extra protection. No one wants chapped and dry lips and the bleeding ones are even more painful. So, it’s wiser to start using a good lip balm right before the onset of winter.

Tip 6: Vitamin C

Vitamin C is necessary for good skin and hair health. Having fruits rich in vitamin C, like oranges, mandarins, grapefruit, lemons and other citrus fruits are essential for good skin in winter. Taking Vitamin C capsules too works wonders. For those, who are allergic to Vitamin C intake, they can use aloe vera gel mixed with a little olive oil and two teaspoons of lemon juice and apply it as a mask on their skin. However, a little bit of swatch test is recommended just to check if your skin is happy with the mask or not.

There goes all the skin care regime. Not really hard and all easy to find stuff.

Plain saree designer blouse buy online @ Pink Paparazzi

As for your hair, washing it once or twice (very oily hair) is fine. Washing your hair too much in winter will leave it dry, frizzy and brittle. Thus, it’s best to wash once a week, as in winters you sweat less, so your hair normally should stay put and manageable.

Now, for the teeny tiny fashion tips, winter is the time for rich and dark colors. Burgundy, Maroon, Dark Green and all sorts of bold colors that you normally think twice before sporting. Well, now is the time for you to sport those colors with confidence! Remember that Mac Diva lipstick you bought ages ago, but weren’t sure how to sport? Well put on a pretty dark colored costume and wear the lipstick with confidence. You will definitely turn heads for sure!

img 12.1

Keeping the eye makeup simple is what we recommend. A bit of eyeliner and a swish of clear, elongating mascara, should do the trick. And don’t forget to add the moisturizer to your base foundation! Else, your make up might start looking grainy and very coarse. Now that’s a nightmare!

Winter is all about great fashion and loads of hot cocoa cups, so dress up, show up and never give up!
